About Helen

 

portrait-6Since 2004, Helen has been in private practice, where she provides counselling and psychotherapy to adults, children, and families. In addition, she has a supervised practice where she provides psychological assessments to children, adolescents and adults in a number of different settings.

Helen has spent 20 years helping individuals and families deal with issues around Chronic Pain, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Relationship Difficulties, Infertility, Grief, Life Skills, Anger, Divorce, Confidence, and Work Related Stress.

Whether people are struggling with a workplace issue, have been involved in a traumatic event (accident, personal injury, abuse, divorce, loss), struggling with depression and/or anxiety, Helen’s goal is to help people overcome their difficulties and learn ways to manage their emotional responses to stressors. Through various psychotherapeutic modalities, Helen individualizes every therapy session in order to appropriately meet the needs of her clients. Helen provides a warm, caring, and non-judgemental environment for her clients that will help them develop a better understanding of the issues they are facing and therefore learn the skills necessary to overcome their issues.

Helen completed a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology from Brock University, specializing in rehabilitation and working with individuals and families with special needs. Helen completed the AMA Guides to Impairment Ratings Course and is certified through the American Board of Forensic Professionals to conduct Catastrophic Impairment Ratings. Helen Ilios completed a Bachelor’s degree with a double honours in Psychology and Health and Society from York University in Toronto. She also received a Certificate from York University and Seneca College in Rehabilitation Counselling Services. She holds a Certificate in Life Skills Coaching.

Helen is a Psychological Associate (Supervised Practice) and a Registered Psychotherapist. She is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) and with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). Helen has served on the Board of Directors for the OAMHP.
